Negotiations Update. (November 10, 2021)

Dear Flight Attendants,

The week of October 18th, your Negotiations team were in the crew rooms to visit with our Flight Attendants and place Orange AFA Bag Tags with the ‘Quick Turn Our Contract’ slogan and Red AFA pins in your V files. Unfortunately, we were not able to publish the times we were available due to flights being full. We have to non rev when we do crew room sits and it can be challenging, and sometimes impossible, to get from base to base. Previously, Orange Negotiations pens were placed in your V files as well. If you have not already done so, please make time to pick up these items from your V files before your next trip!

The purpose of the Orange AFA Bag Tags and Red AFA pins is to outwardly show management that you support your Negotiations Team in their efforts to gain a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA or Contract) with the improvements we deserve!

Please place your Orange AFA Bag Tags on your rollaboard suitcases and wear your Red AFA pin one inch above your wings throughout negotiations! The more management sees the Red AFA pins and Orange AFA Bag Tags, the more obvious it is on how unified Mesa Flight Attendants are to get an industry leading contract! (NOTE: We ask that you wear only the Red AFA pin during negotiations and you remove any other AFA bags tags from your bags. You can return to wearing any other AFA pin after we have a new contract.)

Also, on October 23 and 24, your MEC President Maggie Fox met with our AFA Senior Staff Negotiator Beth DeProspero to write our opener which is based on the results of the survey you filled out. We presented the opener to the MEC on Thursday, October 28, 2021 for approval. Your LEC Presidents voted unanimously to present the opener, as written, to the company. The Negotiations Team met with the company and presented the completed opener on November 5, 2021.

Bargaining begins on November 15 - 19, 2021. We have added December 6 - 10, 2021 and January 24 - 28, 2022 as bargaining meetings. We will provide an update after each Negotiations session to keep you informed on our progress. Remember, any Mesa Flight Attendant that is a member in good standing has the right to vote after four (4) months of employment! Please stay engaged and informed on what is happening with Negotiations through these E lines, on our Website at www.mesaafa.org and on our AFA MEC Facebook page so that when the time comes to cast your vote, you make an informed decision!

Please send any questions you have to [email protected].

In Unity,

Your Negotiations Team

Maggie Fox, MEC President

Cathy Lindig, MEC Vice President

Rosanna Scollo, Committee Member

Beth DeProspero, AFA Senior Staff Negotiator
